If you’ve always wanted a show-stopping smile, Columbus dentist Dr. Carroll can use porcelain veneers to make it happen.
Porcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain, custom-engineered to fit over your teeth. These are sometimes referred to as “instant orthodontics” and can be used to address a number of different issues with your teeth, including teeth that are crooked, discolored or misshaped. Gaps, cracks and chips can also be quickly and painlessly repaired using porcelain veneers.
Porcelain Veneers Procedure
Porcelain veneer placement usually requires two visits. At the first visit, you will discuss in detail what you want your new smile to look like. A small amount of enamel (about the width of your fingernail) is removed from the front of the affected teeth, and then Dr. Carroll makes an impression or your teeth. Next, he’ll send the impression to a dental lab with exact specifications for size, shape and color. At your second visit, the veneers are bonded into place.
What to Expect from Your New Smile
Your porcelain veneers will mimic your natural teeth in terms of the way they reflect and absorb light. They will have subtle color variations and blend beautifully with your visible natural teeth, so that it will be impossible to tell the difference between your real teeth and your veneers.
If cared for properly, your veneers will be more stain resistant than your natural teeth. This means that your veneers will stay beautiful, white and shiny for their entire life span.
