Frequently Asked Dentistry Questions
At Sedalia Dental, we believe that an informed patient is usually a healthy one as well, so below, our team has taken the time to answer some of the most common questions we receive every day. This is an excellent place to start if you want more information about our dental office or dental care in general! Of course, if you have a question that hasn’t been touched on here, be sure to give us a call and ask any time!
How often should I visit the dentist?
This really depends on your particular needs, but in most cases, our dentists suggest that patients of all ages should plan to attend at least two checkups and cleanings per year. These preventive appointments give our team the chance to catch and treat minor issues during their earliest stages, plus they can help stop many problems from developing in the first place!
How should I replace my missing teeth?
If you’re looking to close the gaps in your smile, then we highly recommend dental implants. They offer the most complete solution available today as they replace both the root and crown of a tooth. They have an impressive 98% success rate and can easily last for 30 years or more, making them a wise choice for both your smile and your wallet. Whether you are missing a single tooth or need a full denture, dental implants are the premier way to get your complete smile back.
Can I straighten my teeth without getting metal braces?
Yes! You now have the option of Invisalign, which uses a series of clear plastic aligners to shift the teeth as opposed to metal brackets and wires. The treatment is so discreet-looking that no one will notice you’re using it until you’re already finished. Plus, you’ll be able to maintain your regular diet and hygiene habits because the aligners are easily removable as well. All in all, it’s the perfect treatment for adults and teens alike!
What should I do if I think I have a cavity?
If you’ve noticed some discoloration on one of your teeth or if you’re experiencing any kind of dental pain, the best thing to do is call Sedalia Dental right away. There’s really nothing you can do to treat a cavity on your own, and over time, it’s only going to get worse. Fortunately, we can use either a tooth-colored filling or CEREC crown to fully repair a cavity in just one quick appointment.
Will you take my dental insurance?
Sedalia Dental is an extremely insurance-friendly dental office, and we are in-network with several major PPO plans (view a list of plans here). We’ll gladly accept your plan and even handle the claim for you so we can make sure you’re getting the most out of your coverage at every appointment. To learn how we can use your particular plan, contact us today.
Is there a way I can save on my dental care that doesn’t involve insurance?
Yes! With our In-House Family Discount Plan, you only need to pay one low annual fee to completely cover your basic dental care for the year and receive up to 25% OFF all other procedures. Basically, you get the same benefits as a traditional insurance plan, but without any copays, deductibles, monthly premiums, or annual fees.
